Nebraska AEYC provides opportunities that promote excellence in early childhood for Nebraska’s early childhood educators, children and families through education, advocacy and leadership.

Early Development for Young Children Nebraska AEYC values all children, and focuses most of our efforts on the development of children from birth through age eight. Healthly development for young children includes; intellectual development, emotional development, physical development, and social development.
High Standards
Nebraska AEYC values high standards for our work in the early childhood field. Staff and board alike will demonstrate high standards of personal integrity, trustworthiness, honesty and fortitude in all of our work during and away from our job. Nebraska AEYC will promote high standards within our own programs and services looking for opportunities to continuously improve the quality of our work. Nebraska AEYC will promote the development and implementation of high-quality standards in early childhood programs offered throughout the state.
Professional Development and Continuous Education
Nebraska AEYC values professional development and continuous education as essential to providing high quality care and education to young children. New research findings and best practice information require caregivers and teachers to constantly pursue new learning to ensure that quality care continues to be provided to young children.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Nebraska AEYC values the cultural and social diversity that is reflected within the early childhood workforce. We welcome the changes and important new perspectives the diversity brings to the early childhood field. We believe it is imperative that the early childhood care and education teachers reflect the diversity of race and ethnicity that the overall community holds. We value open communication, compassion, the creative energy, dedication , respect for other, and sense of humor that can come from many people working together.
Professionalism, Teamwork, and Collaboration
Nebraska AEYC will exhibit a professional attitude when interacting with its members, the greater community, and the early childhood field. The commitment to professionalism will include an effort to problem solve through teamwork and collaboration. All members of the organization will demand as much from themselves as they do from the organization as a whole. Our best efforts will be accomplished through high levels of trust, cooperation and a commitment to excellent communications.
Leadership
Nebraska AEYC values the leadership that is necessary from its board, staff, and members to advance the quality of early childhood care and education in Nebraska. As leaders, Nebraska AEYC will help define what is important to accomplish in order to achieve quality; genuinely work to understand and value the various perspectives in the early childhood field; and help people think about and understand the bigger system issues in the early childhood field. Nebraska AEYC leaders will recognize and appreciate the skills of others. Finally, Nebraska AEYC leaders will help the organization prepare for the future needs of the organization.
